Set on a remote Scottish island, The Incomer follows siblings Isla and Sandy, who have spent decades living apart from the modern world, hunting seabirds, telling stories of their ancestors and keeping watch for dreaded "incomers" from the mainland. Their unusual way of life is disrupted by the arrival of Daniel, an awkward council worker sent to relocate them, setting in motion a funny, touching and unexpectedly magical adventure.
Part comedy, part modern fairy tale and part heartfelt character drama, The Incomer celebrates community, belonging and the importance of human connection. With stunning Scottish landscapes and a wonderfully eccentric cast led by Domhnall Gleeson, it’s the sort of film that quietly works its way into your heart.

Early reaction
The film premiered at Sundance, where it won the NEXT Innovator Award, and early reviews have been very positive. Critics have praised its charm, humour and originality, with particular acclaim for the performances and its distinctive mix of comedy, folklore and heart.
